New Generation Executive and Luxury Trains in Operation for Argo Lawu Route from Jakarta to Solo Balapan

PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) will operate the Argo Lawu train connecting Gambir-Solo Balapan pp using the New Generation Executive Train and New Generation Luxury Train types. This series will start operating Monday (18/12/2023), tomorrow.

VP Public Relations KAI Joni Martinus said that the New Generation trains were part of the procurement of 612 units of Stainless Steel New Generation trains for the period 2023 to 2026 imported from PT INKA (Persero).

“The operation of the New Generation Executive Train and New Generation Luxury Train is a form of improving KAI’s services to all customers welcoming the Christmas and New Year holidays, especially Argo Lawu Train customers. Furthermore, we will operate this New Generation Train for other trains in stages, ” said Joni, in a written statement, quoted on Sunday (17/12/2023).

Joni explained that the advantages of the Executive and Luxury New Generation trains include that the train entrance and connecting doors between trains already use automatic electric doors. This will make it easier for customers to open or close the door without expending a lot of energy. The sound of opening and closing the door becomes quieter.

In addition, the Passenger Information Display System (PIDS) available on each train can display information on the nearest station, speed and room temperature. These PIDS help create a better travel experience and provide customers with important information during their journey.

Executive and Luxury New Generation Train windows have also been upgraded to tempered double glass, from previously tempered glass. This creates a higher level of safety, helps reduce the entry of excess heat and UV rays into the room, and reduces noise better.

KAI has also added a USB charger port to each seat, in addition to the power sockets available on the train walls, for customers’ gadget charging needs. The additional charging facilities mean that passengers can continue to use their cellphones, laptops and smart watches without worrying about running out of power, in line with modern needs.

Apart from that, another advantage of the New Generation Luxury Train is that there is an additional toilet from the Luxury Train. From previously there was only 1 toilet, to 2 toilets and separated into men’s and women’s toilets.

The Dining Cars in the New Generation series have also been updated to be more luxurious with premium interiors and furniture. The dining car is dominated by wooden touches and softer and softer dining chairs. The same PIDS is also available on the Dining Car.

“It is hoped that the train comfort upgrade that KAI is undertaking will make railway transportation more advanced. So that it can attract more public interest in remaining loyal to using train services,” said Joni.

This facility is the same as the executive and luxury new generation trains which were previously used for the Argo Dwipangga train. Joni added that the ticket price for the Argo Lawu executive train is around IDR 600 thousand, and for luxury it is around IDR 1.3 million-IDR 1.5 million. These rates are dynamic and remain at the predetermined Lower Limit Rate to Upper Limit Rate.

There are still quite a lot of tickets available during Christmas. The public can order train tickets via the Access by KAI application, the kai.id website, as well as all other official train ticket booking channels. “We urge people to plan their holidays as best as possible,” he concluded.
