Fraudsters have tried again to get hold of Cuxländer’s money. According to the police report, there were various fraud attempts via SMS and messenger services on Wednesday. The criminals asked on behalf of a family member to save the new number – and they also wanted money. With the scam via messenger, they explained that online banking was not possible on the new cell phone. They asked to urgently transfer some amount of money for them. Most attempts were unsuccessful, but in one case it was thanks to an attentive bank employee that no major financial damage occurred. She advised a 70-year-old from Loxstedter to contact his son again beforehand, which he did. In this way, the attempted fraud could be uncovered. (pm/yvo)
