Gone are the days when the group Clap Your Hands Say Yeah created the buzz with his eponymous debut album on the internet and in the specialized press. Because in 2005, CYHASY had arrived at the point, offering a mischievous indie rock whose inspiration was as much Talking Heads what I have it Passing by Arcade Fire. But the originality lay in the particular voice of its singer-guitarist and composer Alec Ounsworth. Since things have turned sour, the musicians, all from Brooklyn, left the group and the following records turned out to be less and less exciting despite some flashes.

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah – New FragilityNew Fragility finally renews with the inspiration so much certain titles hold the attention from the first listening. The texts powerfully relate the traumas caused by the years of presidency Trump, the titles of the songs say a lot about the mood of the singer.

HNation esitation opens the album, the rapid flow takes everything in its path, the instruments are discreet until the instrumental eruption. It is about mental pollution and questioning about the design of American society, which is not unlike the texts of Dan Bejar | the singer of Destroyer. Not so united states that find no excuse for touching and catching Thousand Oaks, name of the place of the tragic shooting of the “Borderline Bar And Grill” in 2018.

Melodically formidable as could be Grandaddy, this title is one of the highlights of the disc. Followed by New Fragility which abounds with choirs, pianos in a crazy and organized mixture with very pessimistic lyrics. A composition that flirts with 70’s rock, the woody sound highlighting the violins at their ease.
Mirror Song on the piano, an intimate voice lets itself be overtaken by the instrumentation for a moving result where it is a question of the condition of the musician on tour and ” guiltIt is d’have so muchopportunitIt iss more than feeling vide at l’intprevious nis not easy to conciliate. “According to the leader of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah.

It took trauma and questioning for Alec Ounsworth regains confidence and composes a poignant record. Like what, anxiety can be saving for some.
