New Fortnite Battle Pass Features References to Popular Culture

The new battle pass features nods to a Tom Holland dance, an iconic meme, and a ’90s action movie.

Season 3 of Fortnite is already with us and it brought us a new battle pass with emotes for several of its characters. But the ones that have stood out recently are those associated with the Lorenzo, Rian and Trace outfits for making references to popular internet culture.

After the update of the new battle royale period Epic Games launched three cosmetics that allude to currently recognized elements. For example, one of them refers to The Rock, a film about which we anticipate here that in its prominent part we speak with spoilers.

These are the three references that make the new gestures of season 3 of Fortnite:

Get out of your mind

In an episode of the American comedy show Lip Sync Battle was presented Tom Holland against Zendaya. Here the former did a lip sync of two songs: Singin’ in the Rain by Gene Kelly and, with an unexpected dance that went viral at the time, Rihanna’s Umbrella. Despite the fact that they are not the exact movements nor is the theme included in the gesture, the community maintains that it is the great inspirer.

All good

This is considered a classic of popular internet culture. The gesture, which adds sound of alarming traffic, alludes to the meme of “Everything’s fine”. This comes from a comic that emerged in 2012 by the cartoonist K.C. Green. In this case, a dog ignores everything that happens around him while drinking a simple cup of coffee. By 2016 he was revived in Adult Swim and its creator released a sequel to the webcomic called «This Is Not Fine»where the protagonist admits the problem he suffers.

desperate flares

At the end of the gesture, the character kneels and raises the flares in his hand. This is a reference to The rock, a 1996 action film starring Nicolas Cage and Sean Connery. In the scene where the act is performed, the character of the first mentioned actor takes out some green flares to signal to his allies to deploy their biological weapons since the terrorist threat had been neutralized.
