Brandenburg’s second forest fire center goes into operation today in Eberswalde (Barnim district). After major forest fires in recent years, the Landesbetrieb Forst has modernized the automated early detection. The former six forest fire centers were merged at two locations.
In March of last year, the forest fire center south in Wünsdorf (Teltow-Fläming district) went online. Seven districts each are monitored from a central office. Should one of them fail, the other evaluates the data transmitted by radio link.
