According to reports state, the “Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz” International Airport in Camagüey, in the center-east of the island, which currently carries out about 20 weekly operations, hopes to increase flights from the second half of this month of December.
Lisandra Díaz Vega, head of the airport’s Operations Unit, reported that it is planned to add two charter flights on Mondays and Fridays to Miami, United States.
In addition, for next year, he indicated, it is planned to add a travel frequency with the Aztec airline Viva Aerobus that will allow the Houston-Cancún-Camagüey connection.
The airport currently has connections with Miami (United States), Cancun (Mexico), Port-au-Prince (Haiti) and Aruba, through the airlines American Airlines, World Atlantic, Global Crossing, Viva Aerobus, Sunrise Airways, Aruba Airlines and Sky High.

Official Díaz Vega also commented that Sky High sends loads to Aerovaradero SA from Miami to Camagüey every Wednesday.
Regarding reservations, he said that at the airport the Havanatur agency sells tickets for charter flights to Miami, and Take Off offers tickets for the airlines Sunrise Airways, Viva Aerobus and Aruba Airlines.
María Teresa Veiras Abreu, head of the airport Terminal, highlighted that they have advanced technology such as X-ray equipment, trace, explosive and metal detectors, body scanners, and training for customs personnel.
He also stressed the importance of passengers respecting the resolution of the Ministry of Public Health that prohibits the importation of electronic cigarettes. Likewise, they commented on attempts to bring drugs through this air terminal.
