There will be no new flash deliverers in Den Bosch for the time being. The city is banning the companies that deliver groceries to people’s homes super fast. The nuisance of the deliverers would be too great. Tilburg had previously decided to put a stop to the establishment of new flash delivery companies.
The delivery services are controversial. In many places, in Tilburg for example, local residents complain about it. The judge decided on Tuesday that a branch in Amsterdam must close because the case does not comply with the zoning plan.
Den Bosch currently has one flash deliverer, namely Flink. That company has a ‘dark store’, a warehouse from which the deliverers leave, on Werfpad in the city.

According to the municipality, that warehouse causes a lot of nuisance. “This concerns unsafe traffic situations and noise nuisance, also during the night hours,” said a spokesperson. The municipality also mentions the ‘undesirable appearance’ of the business, which blinds the windows of their warehouses.
Den Bosch speaks of ‘an infringement on the living and living environment’ of local residents and is afraid of ‘the decline of shopping areas due to the lack of a meeting function’.
Destination plan
For that reason, Den Bosch has decided not to allow new flash deliverers for the time being. This is a preparatory decision, the municipality has one year to investigate the preconditions that speed camera delivery guys should meet in the future. A decision will be made after that year.
The zoning plan is crucial in this regard. In other cities, including Tilburg, the municipality is investigating whether speed cameras can be banned from the city center because, according to the municipality, they do not belong to the retail sector. This is not an issue for the Flink branch in Den Bosch, according to the municipality Flink is a distribution company, but that is not a problem at the Werfpad location.
