Test: Tab P12 pro. Lenovo’s latest flagship is a monster of a tablet. But can it compete with the top models from Apple and Samsung?
In the package you get a little bit of everything: Here is, among other things, a USB-C to USB-C of 2 metres, a 20W charging adapter and Lenovo’s own Tab Pen Plus.
Screen
Here we have a large display of 12.6 inches. The screen is 2K Ultra HD, with a lovely AMOLED display. Here you get nice and very sharp colors on the big screen. Everything from movies to games looks great on this tablet.
The P12 pro has a refresh rate of 120 Hz, which is very good. With a brightness of 600 nits, the tablet can be used outdoors without any major problems.
Performance
Here we have a powerful tablet with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 processor and 8 GB of RAM. The test version has 256 GB of storage, which can be expanded with a Micro SSD of up to 1 terabyte. This is good compared to a number of other tablets on the market, which do not have support for this.
Everything from multitasking, video editing and gaming is something that this tablet can do without any problems. On the more complicated games, the board still wears a little, otherwise I have not experienced any problem with the performance.
Together with the strong chip and the nice display, this is a good challenger to the premium tablets from both Samsung and Apple.
Bacteria
This is where this tablet really shines. With normal use, you get around 11 hours, which I think is impressive, and a good deal further ahead than many other tablets on the market. If battery is important to you, the P12 pro is definitely something you should consider.
Ease of use
On the software side, the Lenovo P12 pro is on par with other tablets on the market.
The P12 pro uses Android 13, which is, so to speak, the ultimate operating system for an Android tablet. Lenovo also has a number of applications specially made for this particular tablet, such as “Entertainment Space” where you get suggestions for films, series and games from various streaming services.
You can also use the Lenovo P12 pro as a laptop if you connect a keyboard, mouse or monitor with Lenovo’s productivity mode. If you do this, you get a decent PC experience, very similar to Samsung dex mode.
In the Lenovo Tab P12 pro, you also get four stereo speakers that produce both high and good sound quality.
Precision pen
Included in the package is Lenovo’s own digital pen. This is relatively similar to Apple’s Pencil 2, and everything from notes to drawing works as it should.
Camera
Here we have two front lenses. Front camera resolution is 8 MP, with an extra wide image mode, and a rear camera resolution of 13 MP. The cameras do a decent job on simple photos and videos. The cameras work exactly as expected from a tablet and have what you need to be able to participate in video meetings, and to be able to take simple and decent photos.
Overall
Here we have a very good tablet, on par with the top models from Samsung and Apple, but with an even better battery. There are possibly a few things on the software side that I think Samsung does better, such as multitasking, but otherwise there is little to put my finger on. The Lenovo Tab P12 pro is certainly a very good tablet.
