New fish market and restyling of Piazzale Carso, money ready from the budget without taking out any mortgage

Now there is also the green light from the council commission. Thanks to the favorable opinion, we are moving towards the release of resources to create the second part of the new fishing center (fish market), for the redevelopment of Piazzale Carso as part of the regeneration of the station area and for the canteens of two primary schools supported by the Pnrr. These are some of the investments that are financed by the budget change, the last one for 2024, which received a favorable opinion from the Fifth Commission on Tuesday morning (19 November).

No mortgage for the fish market

A maneuver which on the investment front sees the change in the source of financing for the new fish market project, a work supported by regional funds with the co-participation of the Municipality of Rimini for 2 million. A portion borne by the administration which would originally have been covered through the use of a mortgage, but which by virtue of the greater revenue (specifically linked to the distribution of Rimini Holding’s dividends) can today be supported with its own resources, therefore without any debt .

DOSSIER – The fish market is worth 10 million euros, but not all residents want it

The funds for Piazzale Carso

Among the other investments financed in the budget, also the redevelopment of the “Giardini Vittime delle Foibe” park (Piazzale Carso) for 250 thousand euros, an intervention which is part of the works plan which sees the administration alongside the Italian Railway Network for an overall renovation of the Rimini central station area, which also includes the creation of a new sea-side access.

UNDERPASSES – Work on the two new underpasses at the station is progressing rapidly

Two new canteens

The change also includes the projects of the two new canteens for the “Mario Lodi” primary schools in the Padulli area and the “Flavia Casadei” of Viserba, eligible for financing with Pnrr funds (Mission 4 – Education and Research) for approximately one million euros overall and which sees the Municipality shouldering the VAT quota (not financeable with EU funds) of around 100 thousand euros.

Magrini: “The balance sheet is solid”

“This maneuver gives further confirmation of the solidity of the municipal budget – underlines the budget councilor Judge Magrini – allowing us to finance the contribution to a strategic project such as the fish market through our own resources and without burdening the public debt, continuing with the policy of debt relief without giving up investments for the city”.
