REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – TikTok is a powerful social media application that makes users addicted. It doesn’t feel like users have spent a lot of time scrolling through the videos on the For Your Page page.
TikTok realizes that addiction is bothering users. Therefore, the company added new features to help users control their screen time.
The move was announced on Thursday (9/6/2022) to support the welfare of the digital community. In the near future, all users TikTok can schedule regular screen time lags while using the app.
After the timer runs out, a reminder will appear asking the user to take a break. TikTok offers several preset break timers, namely 10 minutes, 20 minutes, and 30 minutes. However, TikTok also gives users the ability to set custom times.
In addition, users can see the amount of time spent on the app each day, including how often they open the app and a breakdown of app usage during the day and night. Users can also turn on notifications to get weekly updates on TikTok usage.
For younger users, TikTok is adding a weekly digital health guide. When users between the ages of 13 and 17 use the app for more than 100 minutes in a day, the app will remind them of the screen timeout tool the next time they open the app.
