New feature in WhatsApp: Phoneless messaging will be possible

Messaging app WhatsApp is testing a new feature that allows messaging from other devices without a phone.

Currently, WhatsApp desktop and web application must be connected to the user’s phone to send and receive messages.

Thanks to the new feature, users will be able to message even if their phone is turned off or out of charge. Four devices, including computer and tablet, can be used together.

The new feature will be tested on a small group first in beta. Afterwards, necessary improvements will be made and made available to everyone.

End-to-end encryption technology, which ensures that the sent content is seen only by the sender and the contact person, will also be used in the new system.
