A shocking incident occurred on the night of September 14-15 on Trasa Łazienkowska in Warsaw. A speeding Volkswagen Arteon hit the back of a Ford in which a family of four was travelling – a 37-year-old man, his wife, an 8-year-old daughter and a 4-year-old son. The man died at the scene, the rest of the family were taken to hospital in serious condition.
According to police findings, five people were travelling in the Arteon, and it was being driven by 26-year-old Łukasz Ż. Both he and three friends travelling with him, immediately after the accident, first made it difficult to provide help to 20-year-old Paulina K., Łukasz Ż.’s girlfriend, who was travelling with them, and then fled the scene and helped the suspect escape. What’s more, initially the men claimed that it was she who was driving the car and they wanted to blame her for the accident.
The surprising past of Paulina K.
The 20-year-old suffered broken cheekbones, knocked out teeth, a contused skull and a severed spinal cord in the accident. Unofficially, she had regained consciousness, but due to her poor health, she has not yet been questioned by investigators.
Immediately after the accident, the media began to check the past of both Łukasz Ż. and the people traveling with him. First, his extensive criminal record came to light. The man had served time for drug possession, fraud, making criminal threats, and theft, among other things. He had been arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or other intoxicants.
“It turns out that his girlfriend, Paulina K., who was injured in the accident, also has a criminal past,” writes “Fakt”. According to information obtained by the tabloid’s editorial office, in 2022, Paulina, then 18, together with her mother Karolina, were convicted of smuggling opioids: Tramadol and Oxikodone. A total of over 51 thousand tablets.
Shocking words from a 20-year-old’s mother
The subject of Paulina K.’s mother also appears – although in a different context – in the material of “Uwaga!” TVN. In the program, the woman told about the dramatic backstage events of the night of September 14-15. – I picked up the phone and called him. I asked: “What about Paulina?” and he said: “What should I tell you?” He said that he had killed a man. He already knew. I asked: “What man? What happened?”. He said that he had killed a man and was running away. I asked what was happening with my daughter, what man he had killed. He hung up – she told journalists.
The woman said she didn’t know Łukasz Ż. well, although he seemed polite. She doesn’t think her daughter knows “what kind of person he is, what he does, because she probably wouldn’t get involved with him.” “That was the plan, that they would blame Paulinka, that she was the driver. They said she probably wouldn’t survive. And they told him to f******, Łukasz,” she tells journalists.
– The last call I received from him was probably around 6 or 7 o’clock. I was shouting at him and he said: “Why are you shouting at me, it’s not my fault, I wasn’t driving!” I was swearing at him, I said: “You confessed 20 minutes ago. What the f*** are you doing?” He admitted that he was driving, I have it in the messages on my phone – the woman emphasizes.
