According to the “Laboratory Dedicated to Nature”, you can get acquainted with the exhibition of textile artist Ieva Krūmiņa ‘s exhibition “Meadow” I, II. The final exposition of the photo project “Third Eye” created by Sigulda residents can be seen in the city laboratory.
The exhibition of works by the textile artist and the head of the Textile Art Department of the Latvian Academy of Arts Ieva Krūmiņa “Meadow” I, II can be seen in the Nature Laboratory of Sigulda railway station square. The artist has created golden, fragile bent and grass stalks in a special author’s technique, the raw material used in the work is polyethylene – PET waste. The contradictory connection reflected in the works of the exhibition, where urban, contemporary buildings are entwined in the curves of light forms, offers the viewer to delve into the truly fragile beauty of nature.
The kinetic sculpture “Dark Vision” created by artists Gatis Kreicbergs and Johanna Lohrengel can be seen in the laboratory of the future. The sculpture is made of household waste, a refrigerator, pipes, wood waste and memories of old things. It, like the fortune teller, depicts visions of a possible future drowning in waste and predicts that we ourselves are thieves of the future if we do not look for solutions. The Dark Vision invites visitors to look to the future and think about the prudent use of environmental resources and the importance of sustainable thinking.
Sigulda not just the usual views on postcards. Within the framework of the photo project “Third Eye”, Sigulda residents of different generations and professions share their special places in the city, capturing them in the shots of analogue photo films. This time, in the final part of the photo project, the exposition will feature photo moments taken by colleagues and family members of the cultural center “Siguldas devons”, with their favorite places in the city.
In the square of Sigulda railway station, already from the middle of February, visitors have access to an environment where it is possible to form a dialogue about the place where we live and to contribute to the formation of the city. Co-creation laboratories Nature. City. The future. (Nature, Urban, Future) interactions are important, especially at a time when cultural spaces are closed to visitors. With the invitation #DariSavuPilētai laboratories invite Sigulda residents and Sigulda guests to talk about important topics in the language of art. Art expositions and planned art projects in co-production laboratories, in the square of Sigulda railway station, will be on view until June 3.
