An era is ending in Kielce. Bertus Servaas, long-time president and owner, said goodbye to the handball club. The future of the handball team in Kielce was in doubt, but Barlinek and Industria came to the rescue. Now the team has a completely new owner.
From now on we have the Industria Kielce club. The takeover of the team was sealed on September 7 by Świętokrzyska Grupa Przemysłowa (ŚGP) Industria.

New owner in Kielce
During last season, Łomża, the main sponsor, withdrew from financing handball in Kielce. Therefore, there were question marks as to whether it would be possible to keep key players and the handball player in Kielce at the highest level. Fortunately, two companies came to the rescue – Barlinek and Industria, which improved the financial situation of the club, which played until the end of the season under the name Barlinek Industria Kielce.
However, this was a temporary solution, as in the summer there was a lack of adequate financing again. We had a club called KS Kielce, without any major sponsor in its name. However, they were assured that efforts were underway to acquire new sponsors and a new owner. Bertus Servaas had already declared that he would cease to be the owner and president.
Ultimately, the team was taken over by ŚGP Industria and the team’s name was changed to Industria Kielce. But it is temporary, because there are plans to add a serious sponsor, immediately as the title sponsor.
“We would like to inform you that on September 7, 2023, Świętokrzyska Grupa Przemysłowa INDUSTRIA SA acquired the full package of 100% of the shares of KS Vive Handball Kielce SA, thus becoming the owner of the Kielce senior men’s handball club,” we read in a statement from Industria on Twitter.
The management company will adopt the name KS Iskra Kielce, referring to the historical name of the club. In turn, the new president will be Magdalena Szczukiewicz, current development and marketing director at ŚGP Industria. He will replace Bertus Servaas in this position.
