The business associations did not have to fight long. Just weeks after the Federation of Industry and the Chamber of Commerce began lobbying the government for new energy aid, the coalition caved in. Chancellor Karl Nehammer (ÖVP) announces a new aid package for businesses. Lobbying is free for interested parties. But there is a great danger that politicians will once again embark on an agenda that focuses not on economic benefit but on the special interests of a few entrepreneurs.
