Audi’s Avant models have their roots back to the 70’s, and now it has been confirmed that the brand name will be included in the electric car age. This happens about half a year after the sedan version was shown.
The car has been named the Audi A6 Avant e-tron concept and is being built on the company’s new PPE platform. The car will be 4.96 meters long, 1.96 meters wide and 1.44 meters high. Thus, it is placed in size in the large premium class.
– 95 percent of Audi customers in Norway already choose an electric car. We are proud to be able to fill in with our classic models also in future-oriented electrical versions. The Audi A6 Avant e-tron is our first electric station wagon, and it is as beautiful as the technology is advanced, says Audi director Elin Sinervo in a press release.
Three new ones in two years
The most powerful versions of the model will accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in less than four seconds, the manufacturer claims. The basic models will be able to do it in less than seven.
With an 800-volt system and a charging power of up to 270 kW, it should take around 10 minutes to increase the range by around 300 km, according to Audi.
With a power of 100 kW, you will be able to charge from 5 to 80 percent in less than 25 minutes.
Depending on the propulsion system and model variant, the Audi A6 e-tron can reach up to 700 km range (WLTP), it is claimed.
The car will – like other models in the PPE series – come with an engine at the front and an engine at the rear, and pull on all fours when needed.
A fun detail is that the headlights can be used as a kind of projector. This allows you to park against a wall and play computer games while waiting for the car to charge.
In the Audi A6 Avant e-tron concept, the two electric motors can deliver a total power of 350 kW, and 800 Nm of torque, according to the manufacturer.
