The Baden-Mödling-Wiener Neustadt District Working Group (BAG) extends from the southern city limits of Vienna to the Bucklige Welt, is part of the Lower Austrian Brass Music Association and comprises 40 member associations. Due to the corona, the general assembly scheduled for March of this year with new elections was now held with the necessary caution.

The member associations were able to cast their votes online on a platform specially set up for this purpose. The very high voter turnout of 75 percent was particularly gratifying.

The electoral act per se was carried out by the two outgoing board members, district chairman Lambert Schön (brass band Altenmarkt / Triesting) and district bandmaster Hannes Herbst (town band Traiskirchen). District cashier Elisabeth Klein (Musikverein Heiligenkreuz), her deputy Johann Duffek (Stadtkapelle Traiskirchen) and district auditor Werner Fuchs (Musikverein Lyra Wiener Neudorf) no longer stood for election.

Kurt Breth is the new chairman of the district working group.

Kurt Breth from the music association Tribuswinkel was elected as the new district chairman. The former Badener by choice – his job with the Austrian Armed Forces led him to the former Martinek barracks in Baden – has arrived in his new home community, not least thanks to the Tribuswinkel music association. “I’m a late caller when it comes to membership in brass music,” says Breth, “actually, I come from the piano”.

It was only in 2010 that he turned to brass music, since 2013 he has been chairman of the Tribuswinkel music association and was already active in the district working group in the last period. The new district music director Michael Ostovics has already gained experience in the BAG. Breth wants to work to ensure “that the events of the district working group and the individual brass bands receive the appropriate media attention in advance.”
