New effort with a smaller budget for the High Technology Park from the Region of Epirus

The press conference and the first statement of the Regional Governor on this matter was given one day after the announcement by the Deputy Minister of Social Cohesion, Maria Kefala, about her meeting with the Deputy Minister of Economy, during which Nikos Papathanasis, according to what was mentioned in the press release of the Ioannina MP, pledged that “the Ministry is examining the possibility of securing 50% of the funding, with the necessary condition of streamlining the project’s budget”.

Moving in exactly this line, the Epirus Regional Governor also stated that the study and the cost of the project are being modified, from 40 million euros – excluding VAT obviously – to 30 million.

In fact, Mr. Kahrimanis appeared so optimistic about the course of things that he thanked Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Costas Tassoulas, Aki Skertsos, Nikos Papanathasis and others for their help in planning the District so far.

Therefore, according to Mr. Kahrimanis, a new attempt is being made to reintegrate the project into the Recovery Fund, with the approval of the Ministry of National Economy.

“We are in a very good place and we will not abandon the project if we do not reach the goal” Mr. Kahrimanis noted, among other things, during the reading of his announcement today.

As for the rest, Mr. Kahrimanis reiterated that the Region of Epirus did not know about the decision to withdraw the project from the Recovery Fund and stop the loan request.

Finally, when asked if there was bad handling by the Region of Epirus, Mr. Kahrimanis did not admit that any mistake was made.

Without naming him, the District Governor also referred to the proposal of Stavros Kalogiannis for Technopolis, arguing that it cannot be implemented as the proposed lands are private.
