New edition of “Cinema in your hands”

The Department of Culture of the Santander City Council launches, one more year, a New edition of “Cinema in your hands”, a workshop in which you can Learn to record a short fiction or documentary film in a practical and enjoyable way. It will be taught by the Cantabrian production company Bubble Filmsfrom September 20 to December 20 at the Doctor Madrazo Cultural Center.

The workshop is freehas 15 places and is designed for students from age 15 onwards. The sessions, which will take place Fridays, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.will begin with film writing lessons that will result in a short fiction or documentary script. Next, students will receive classes in direction, production and photography in order to learn how to translate this script into images and be able to film it during the workshop itself. In the last days, the editing and post-production work will be addressed in order to transform the filmed material into a short film that will be released on December 20 at the Doctor Madrazo Cultural Center.

The workshop teachers are professionals within the audiovisual sector: Jordi Farga, screenwriter of short films, such as the award-winning “Biodiversity” or “I Want a Thigh”, Lucia Venerodirector of photography for numerous national and international documentaries, Álvaro de la Hoz, director of the feature film “Do it for me” and Martha Solanoproducer and director of numerous short films and documentaries.

Burbuja Films has been training young people since 2013 and focuses on giving courses to all those interested in acquiring or expanding their knowledge in the making of short fiction or documentary films. More than 150 students have passed through its classrooms, many of whom already work in the film industry. Some of the works that have come out of this workshop are, for example, ¨Putos mentiras¨ by Alberto Blanco, which has been selected to be part of the ¨Cantabria en corto 2021¨ catalogue, and which has toured different national and international festivals such as the USA or Lebanon, or “Siniestro total” by Olga Vázquez, which won the audience award at the 2021 Piélagos Festival.
