New earthquake in Romania’s Gorz County – The Old Continent – The World – NOVA News

The earthquake was at a depth of 15 km

An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.1 on the Richter scale was recorded at 8:25 a.m. local time in Gorz County, southwestern Romania.

According to data from the National Institute of Geophysics, the earthquake was at a depth of 15 km. The epicenter was 104 km southwest of Sibiu, 108 km northwest of Craiova, 140 km west of Pitesti, 163 km southeast of Timisoara and 199 km west of Brasov.

A series of earthquakes were recorded earlier this month in Gorz County in Oltenia District (Southwestern Romania), with the strongest occurring on February 14 with a magnitude of 5.7. A day earlier, an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.2 was recorded in the same area.

The National Institute of Geophysics states that the number of earthquakes and their magnitude in Gorge County have decreased in recent days, with 810 seismic events recorded so far.
