New earthquake in Romania – Society – The World – NOVA News

Since February 13, about 810 aftershocks of lower intensity have been registered in the same area

An earthquake with a magnitude of 3.9 was recorded last night in the southwestern Romanian county of Gorz, according to data from the National Institute of Geophysics, quoted by Digi 24 and BTA TV. The tremor occurred at 2:18 a.m. at a depth of 11 kilometers.

On February 13, a magnitude 5.2 earthquake at a depth of 16 kilometers was recorded in Gorge County, and a magnitude 5.7 earthquake at a depth of 6.3 kilometers occurred in the same area the next day. Property damage was reported.

Seismologists reported on Tuesday that about 810 lower-intensity aftershocks had been recorded in the same area since the February 13 earthquake.

The Oltenia zone, where these earthquakes were recorded, is known for weak to moderate seismic activity, with tremors of magnitude above 5 being extremely rare, the television noted.
