New details about the second-generation Russian Renault Duster crossover, production of which has begun a week ago… The company has officially confirmed that the diesel engine will remain in the range: apparently, this is the same 1.5 dCi engine that was in the first generation model. These crossovers will have four-wheel drive and will be the heaviest in the range.
It is for this reason that the diesel version was chosen for the indicative in-plant ODB65 crash test. In general, it repeats our ARCAP technique (frontal impact on a deformable barrier with 40% overlap), but the speed of the car was increased from 64 to 65 km / h. The crash test was successful: the diesel Duster weighing 1663 kg (including dummies and equipment) earned 14.55 points out of 16 possible, that is, the maximum four stars. Alas, Renault has not released a single test photo. In 2017, the European Dacia Duster scored only three stars on the Euro NCAP method.
It is important that in the rich versions the new Russian Duster will have six airbags (front, side and curtain) and front seat belts with pretensioners and force limiters. The first generation crossover has no safety curtains or pretensioners. A full presentation of the new Russian Duster will take place on February 11. Now cars of the first generation cost at least 912 thousand rubles, and the diesel version – from 1 million 186 thousand.
