“New Drug Solrimamfitol Outperforms Caffeine in Combating Daytime Sleepiness, According to Study”

Researchers have come up with scientific results indicating that the drug “Solrimamfitol” helps people who suffer from a feeling of sleepiness and the need to sleep during the day to stay alert, according to research published in the journal “Internal Medicine“, who indicated that the effectiveness of this drug is superior to caffeine.

Some people suffer from obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), a disease that causes a great desire to sleep at inappropriate times, such as feeling sleepy while driving a car or eating, and often makes it difficult for them to carry out simple tasks.

It is believed that caffeine helps those suffering from this condition, but new research confirms that a drug called “Solrimamfitol” is effective against fatigue that causes sleep.

The doctor, a specialist in internal medicine, Tyler Peter, from McMaster University in Canada, and his colleagues concluded that the drug stimulates the body to work and raises the level of dopamine, the hormone of pleasure and motivation, in the brain.

The researchers reviewed the results of 14 previous clinical trials involving 3,085 people with obstructive sleep apnea, and examined the efficacy of anti-fatigue drugs solrimamfitol, armodafinil, modafinil, and pitolescent.

And by examining the results, it was found that the three drugs are effective, but “Solrimamfitol” showed superiority in the level of alertness even after a month of use.

The researchers say that the long-term effectiveness of the drug should be the subject of further experiments, as it was found that it may cause blood pressure if used for a long time.

An estimated one billion people worldwide suffer from obstructive sleep apnea.
