Mexico City. The federal government presented the new drug acquisition scheme through a digitalized system that will allow the largest consolidated purchase, which will be biannual to achieve better price conditions, announced Eduardo Clark, who will be responsible for the digitalization agency that systematizes procedures not only in the health sector but in various procurement areas of the federal government.
President Claudia Sheinbaum pointed out that it will be a very important purchase that will guarantee access to health for all Mexicans. He said that it will be a purchase in which 130 billion pesos will be channeled annually in a transparent manner, “inviting everyone who has to do with health care to participate.
“We are going to get even better prices than even President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, who had already reduced them significantly.” They will be purchases with transparency and zero corruption,” stated the President.
After Clark’s presentation in which he highlighted that the 26 health institutions involved in the consolidated purchase must mention the requirements they have for medications, the quantities and the places where they request it to be delivered, Sheinbaum mentioned, in response to an express question , that the mega pharmacy that was built in the last six-year term will continue to operate, even though it was no longer plentiful.
Clark presented the digital platform through which the planning, verification, systematization and execution of the purchase of medicines will be punctually monitored so that any supplier can follow up on contracts.
He stated that throughout this month the requirements that health institutions have were designed and received, so that in November the call for the biannual consolidated purchase 2025-2026 will be launched. He pointed out that the delivery date will be in March 2025, so that companies have time to guarantee the supply of all the medications that are being requested, since there are 4,454 medication codes that will be acquired.
However, he specified that in parallel, another call for the purchase of medicines will be launched for the months of November, December, January and February, which will guarantee the supply of medicines for this period.
Clark said that these are digital systems that will allow the most efficient consolidated purchase of medicines, guaranteeing access to health for all Mexicans.” He noted that the Ministry of Public Administration has participated in this process in the design, contracting and supervision of technical annexes for consolidated purchases of all sectors.
