/ world today news/ The leader convenes a plenum to decide whether left-wing experts can join the presidential government
New tension has arisen between “Positano” 20 and “Dondukov” 2 due to the upcoming appointment of an official cabinet by President Rumen Radev. The occasion was the intention of the head of state to invite again experts and proven professionals from BSP, on whom he relied during his previous caretaker government in 2017.
This became clear at the President’s meeting with the BSP, at which the Reds returned the third mandate to form a government within the framework of the 45th National Assembly. On it, Radev announced that next week he will dissolve the parliament and the elections will be held on July 11.
Many tense months are ahead, in which “the presidential institution will responsibly fulfill its constitutional role of being a guarantor of stability in dynamic processes”, explained Radev. “We must act responsibly and expeditiously to avoid chaos in the upcoming elections,” said the head of state.
“The formation of an official cabinet requires that respected experts be attracted to it, who, regardless of their political biases, should be united by an important goal – the holding of fair elections and governance of the country in difficult times to deal with the consequences of the health and political crisis in the country. In this regard, I inform you that I intend to invite authoritative experts from the left, some of whom successfully fulfilled their mission in the previous caretaker government”, Radev appealed to Ninova.
“Thank you for this attitude towards the Bulgarian left, but please introduce these people to us so that our National Council can make a decision, as such are the rules of the party”, replied the social leader. She later explained to the media that no specific names were discussed at the meeting and that conversation would be held later. And he reminded that in the BSP decisions are made by the collective bodies. Ninova added that she was not like Boyko Borisov and Slavi Trifonov to announce intentions on Facebook.
However, there is strong tension between her and Radev on the subject, say people in the know. Many “saw” behind the president’s words the name of Denitsa Zlateva, who was deputy prime minister in the “Gerdzhikov” cabinet, and they expect her to receive another invitation to the same, or even a higher post. This did not please Ninova, whose deputy in the party was Zlateva before she switched to the internal opposition.
The president’s search for ministers among the socialists without her knowledge angered the leader, so on her proposal on May 1, the plenum adopted a deliberate decision – “in the case of an invitation to members of the BSP to participate as ministers in the official government formed by President Rumen Radev, it follows the same to inform the leadership of the party and to be approved by the National Council”. It was adopted with 106 votes “for”, without a single “against” or “abstention”.
The other name in the “Gerdzhikov” office, close to the left, is that of the Minister of Agriculture Prof. Hristo Bozukov. However, he is not a party member, but only sympathizes with BSP and supports its policy. The former social minister, now Radev’s secretary, is also connected to the left Dove Donev.
