Lisa Gadenstätter in search of the unvarnished truth behind celebrity facades
Vienna (OTS) – To be famous, to excite the masses, to be recognized on the street – a dream of many people. A life in the spotlight that brings money, popularity, and influence is fascinating. The downside is usually disregarded. In the new “Doc 1: The Dark Side of Fame”, Lisa Gadenstätter asks questions on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at 8.15 p.m. on ORF 1 that famous personalities normally do not answer. In conversations with Philipp Hochmair, Paul Pizzera, Anna Veith, Michael Häupl and Peter Filzmaier, the audience gets an honest and ruthless insight into life in public. “It is an honor that prominent personalities let us partake of their unvarnished, real life. That they bring the otherwise hidden dark sides to light for us and speak openly and honestly about the problems that celebrity can also bring with it, ”said Gadenstätter.
Actor Philipp Hochmair, known from theater and television, tells in “Doc 1” how private life and career can merge, and what happens when you live your own life not only on the stage, but for it. Musician Paul Pizzera describes the wave of success that carried him away, but also created a lot of pressure. Anna Veith knows what it feels like to become famous without striving for it. The former top skier tells how she had to learn to deal with the strain of media and public attention. People in political positions can also be of great social interest, which is not always welcome. The former mayor of Vienna, Michael Häupl, talks about how to remain authentic and why it is so important not to pretend. In addition to celebrities, there is also a former paparazzo who reports on private productions and undercover assignments. Erika Freeman, psychoanalyst and confidante of Hollywood stars, explains why fame is always addictive.
Lisa Gadenstätter gained a lot of new knowledge in the course of “Doc 1”: “It was very exciting for me to be able to take a look behind the facade of these people who are in public. Many think: Wow, what a great life these people have to lead! Then to hear what it did to Paul Pizzera, for example, first to be cheered by 100,000 fans and then to sit alone in his apartment, makes you thoughtful. Likewise the story of Anna Veith, who actually only wanted to ski and was not prepared for the brutal onslaught of fans and press. And Philipp Hochmair, who tells us what he would most like to do if he had something like a private life at all … “
