Lelystad will have another distribution center. A building of more than 36,000 square meters is to be built at the Flevopoort business park along the A6 at the Lelystad exit. International logistics real estate developer Frasers Property Industrial has announced that construction will start in January.
The construction announcement comes shortly after the news that the Lelystad city council rejected a proposal to impose a temporary stop on new distribution centers.
The CDA submitted the proposal because the faction believes that housing for migrant workers should first be addressed. But a narrow majority of the council is confident that housing will ultimately be properly arranged.
Last week it was announced that Van der Valk Investments (VDVI) wants to build a migrant labor village for 2,500 workers next to the Van der Valk hotel. A feasibility study will be conducted in the coming months.
Rented to companies
The new center is rented to companies that are looking for easy access to the rest of the Netherlands and a good connection with the United Kingdom and the rest of Europe.
The distribution center must have a large warehouse and office. 290 parking spaces for cars and 16 parking spaces for trucks will also be created.
It is not yet known which companies will rent the distribution center. According to a spokesperson for Frasers Property, no leases have been signed yet.
