The Göttingen Labor Court has a new director. Longtime director Achim Schlesier resigned on April 30, 2024. Cornelius Kroeschell was named as his successor. The certificates were presented by the President of the State Labor Court at a ceremony with the staff of the Labor Court and invited guests.
Achim Schlesier was born in 1958 and grew up in Göttingen. He attended the New Gymnasium (today: Theodor-Heuss-Gymnasium) and studied at the Georg-August University in Göttingen. In 1987 he joined the labor courts of Lower Saxony. Mr. Schlesier first worked at the labor courts in Hildesheim and Hanover. He has been working as a judge at the Labor Court in Göttingen since 1999. He took over the position of director on April 1, 2004. Mr. Schlesier has a high level of professional and social skills. It is well known by everyone involved in labor law. By importing digital court files, Mr. Schlesier was recently able to complete a project that was important to him. The Göttingen Labor Court would like to thank you for the years of excellent cooperation. We say goodbye to Mr. Schlesier, an excellent colleague who is highly valued. We wish him all the best in his retirement.
Cornelius Kroeschell was born in 1969 and comes from Bad Sooden-Allendorf. After high school, he completed his Abitur at the vocational high school – especially in electrical engineering – in Witzenhausen. Cornelius Kroeschell also studied at the University of Göttingen. He then worked as a lawyer in Hanover for two and a half years. In 2001 he was appointed as a judge by the state of Lower England. He worked for a time at the labor courts of Braunschweig and Hanover. In 2003 he moved to the Göttingen Labor Court. From 2008 to 2009 he was seconded to the Federal Labor Court in Erfurt as a research assistant. He has been deputy director of the Göttingen Labor Court since 2014.
The labor courts decide disputes between employers and workers as well as between employers and works councils. The Göttingen Labor Court has local jurisdiction for the areas of Göttingen and Northeim. The court currently employs three judges, one judicial officer and eight court clerks. In 2023, the Göttingen Labor Court processed around 1,300 cases.
