Starting this Monday, commercial engineer Alis Catalán Araya goes into action as the new director of the Dr. Franco Ravera Zunino Hospital (HFRZ) in O’Higgins. After passing the competition process for Senior Public Management (ADP), this Monday, April 22, she officially assumed her duties with the intention of carrying out solid strategies to strengthen regional public health.

“I am very happy with the welcome I received at the O’Higgins Health Service with the director, Jaime Gutiérrez, and with the management team of the Dr. Franco Ravera Hospital, which makes me realize that we have a challenging job, with many goals” , expressed the new director of the HFRZ, Alis Catalán.

The first milestone of her arrival was at the O’Higgins Health Service Directorate, where she was received by the regional director, Jaime Gutiérrez, who highlighted the importance of having a regular director in the main health center in the region “it is tremendously relevant.” that our main health center has a regular director, so that we can continue advancing in improving the health of our users and today we have a professional with extensive experience in different hospitals, which will undoubtedly allow us to achieve greater cohesion of our healthcare network,” said Gutiérrez.

PRIORITY TASKS

When talking about his challenges, Catalán mentioned short, medium and long-term goals, detailing that “in the short term, it is to manage the waiting lists, both for surgical interventions and consultations, in such a way that we can reduce them and also provide care. much more timely for the beneficiary population,” adding that “in the medium term, the idea is to improve all the indicators that the establishment has, generate policies related to optimizing the work environment, promoting comprehensive well-being in the work teams. In the long term, and I think it is important, the challenge is to redesign some information systems, opening up more to the community and hospital network of the O’Higgins health service.”

Regarding his relationship with the civil servant community, Catalán expressed his commitment to an open-door policy and establishing a work plan in collaboration with the different unions and hospital officials.

EXPERIENCE

Originally from Llay Llay, Valparaíso region, the commercial engineer is an accountant, MBA and has training as a coach with specialization at the Andalusian School of Public Health in Granada, Spain. She has developed her experience in different health centers, representing different relevant positions in the Viña del Mar Health Service – Quillota, Valparaíso Health Service – San Antonio and at the San Juan de Dios Hospital.

The new director highlights the importance of female leadership in public institutions and the importance of valuing collaborators and officials. Likewise, she invites us to generate spaces for communication and collaborative work to improve hospital management and turn the Dr. Franco Ravera Hospital into a national benchmark.

“My entire career has been in public health, I really like this sector, I have a special sensitivity to improving health, I am convinced that things can be done efficiently, that a service in a public hospital can be delivered, even better than a clinic. In that we have to shine, make the hospital shine even more, becoming a national reference,” concluded the director of the Dr. Franco Ravera Hospital, Alis Catalán.
