New decision tree: ‘snot-noses policy’ adjusted – Childcare total

There is a new version of the decision tree ‘Child should or should not go to childcare / school?’. There are adjustments in the ‘brats policy’ and there are stricter rules for children who have been in contact with someone with corona. Advice on testing children has also changed.

The decision tree can be used to determine whether or not a child may come to childcare / school. Not only the decision tree for children from 0 to 12 years has been adjusted, the 12+ decision tree for children aged 12 and older and adults has also been updated. The English version of the decision tree will follow as soon as possible, reports BOinK.

The changes

  • A child who has had close contact (more than 15 minutes at less than 5 feet and / or children from the same group / class) with someone with corona should stay home and have themselves tested after day 5 after the last contact. Just as for adults, a distinction is now also made for children between ‘close contacts’ (category 2) and ‘other contacts’ (category 3). See also the explanation in the yellow circle by the tree.
  • Children from 0 to 3 years old who have a cold are allowed to go to day nursery, toddler care or childminder if the outcome of the decision tree indicates this. Children aged 4 and older who have a cold are not allowed to go to out-of-school care (emergency shelter) or childminders and school.
  • A child returning from an orange or red area should stay home and get tested as soon as possible. View on nederlandwereldwijd.nlfor the current overview of the orange and red areas.
  • Testing is more urgently advised (see below).

Test insult

To gain a better insight into the spread of the coronavirus, it is requested that children with only cold complaints are also tested. At the bottom of the decision tree, a number of situations are listed in which urgent it is advised to have a child tested. However, testing can never be mandatory.

12+ decision tree

The 12+ tree has also been adjusted (version February 6, 2021). This decision tree can be used to test whether pedagogical employees / teachers are allowed to go to work. The adaptation in this tree is in the testing options: in many cases, people aged 12 and older can also have themselves tested if they have no complaints. And no distinction is made anymore in the age of a housemate with complaints. The 12+ decision tree can be downloaded from https://ajnjeugdartsen.nl/de-jeugdarts/corona.
