Teachers are called to mobilize this Thursday, January 20. A week after a historic mobilization and despite government announcements, nothing has changed on the ground.
Deliveries of masks and replacements are long overdue
Unlike last week, teachers are not necessarily called upon to strike and demonstrate. In Puy-de-Dôme, for example, the SNUIPP, the main union for primary school teachers, relies more on actions on social networks.
In the Loire, rallies are planned at the end of the day in Saint-Étienne (6 p.m. in front of the National Education services) and in Roanne (6.15 p.m. in front of the prefecture). the gathering will take place a little earlier in the Rhône, at 5 p.m. in front of the rectorate of Lyon.
But whatever the form of action chosen, exasperation is always present. “The announcements made last Thursday, for the moment concretely in the schools, there is nothing. We did not receive masks, nor colleagues from the complementary list“, denounces Isabelle Roussy, co-secretary of SNUIPP 63 and director of a nursery school in Clermont-Ferrand (Puy-de-Dôme).
More than the holidays of Jean-Michel Blanquer, she especially regrets a communication which systematically passes through the national media to announce the new protocols. “It is the television channels that can announce to parents that everything is fine, that we are going to provide resources, provide assistance and masks… But on the ground this is not what is happening and what is not visible. We have parents who asked us at the beginning of the week if we had received the masks. I told them that for the moment we had nothing and that we were doing with the masks that we buy“, adds Isabelle Roussy.
A new day of mobilization is scheduled for January 27, but it will go beyond the strict framework of National Education, since it will be devoted to wages and employment.
