The fourth wave of the new crown pneumonia epidemic in Hong Kong continued. The Department of Health and the Hospital Authority held an outbreak press conference in the afternoon. Zhang Zhujun, Director of the Infectious Diseases Division of the Center for Health Protection, and Yu Huiling, Chief Administrative Manager (Medical Effectiveness and Technology Management) of the Hospital Authority, explained the latest outbreak. There were 70 new confirmed cases in Hong Kong today (18th), with patients aged between 2 and 90 years old. Of these, 64 were local cases, including 25 of unknown origin.

Zhang Zhujun pointed out that 10 people have been diagnosed in a new group. The “Billy Sir Music Classroom” in the New Era Industry and Trade Center at No. 104 Jingfu Street, San Po Gang involved 1 teacher, 5 students, and the rest belonged to Related cases include the family and friends of the confirmed case. The teacher taught students to sing on December 5th and 8th, and the students are between 50 and 60 years old.

She also pointed out that they will not involve many people when they sing. Usually, a teacher has two to three students. Currently, he has the relevant list and has sent relevant close contacts to the quarantine center. No new cases have been found.

Zhang Zhujun said that if you don’t wear a mask while singing, it is of course one of the ways of transmission. Even if you wear a mask while singing, the singer will stand closer, and the virus may leak from the mask and spread.

Multiple infection groups have also expanded, including:

• 2 new song and dance groups
• One additional case in the Yata Department Store Group in Sha Tin
• One additional site group at Lam Tin Tunnel in Tseung Kwan O is a related case
• 1 case added to Fung Nin House in Tai Po
• One case has been added to Mingli Building, Caiyun Second Village, which is a related case and is a close contact of a household confirmed earlier
