A new cantonal Covid-19 test center will open in the Rosenberg Church in Winterthur on January 4th. This will enable the test capacities in the Canton of Zurich to be increased further.
In the past three weeks, so many people from Zurich had themselves tested as never before since the beginning of the pandemic, as the health department announced on Wednesday. From December 7th to 27th, a test was carried out on over 144,000 people, in the three weeks before it was almost 97,000.
The increase in tests is gratifying, because testing is an important tool in coping with the Covid 19 pandemic, according to the message. The main aim of the new test center is to ensure sufficient capacities for the use of rapid antigen tests in the Winterthur area.
In addition to PCR tests, they also offer rapid antigen tests, which are evaluated on site. In the existing test center of the Winterthur Cantonal Hospital, only PCR tests that are analyzed in the laboratory are carried out.
