New COVID-19 guidelines for Connecticut travelers go into effect – Telemundo New York (47)

In Connecticut, there will be new guidelines established for the COVID-19 travel advisory beginning Saturday, the governor announced Friday night.

Starting Saturday, the travel advisory will apply to all travelers, both domestic and international, entering Connecticut from anywhere except New Jersey, New York and Rhode Island.

Gov. Ned Lamont said he signed an executive order that revises the previous guidelines to align with the recently revised CDC’s (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) guidelines.

The notice will also require all affected travelers to complete the Connecticut Travel Health Form and self-quarantine for 10 days or until a negative COVID-19 test result is provided. This is a change from the 14-day quarantine suggested above.

There will also be three exemptions from the self-quarantine requirement, the governor said.

Anyone who has had a negative COVID-19 test result in the 72 hours prior to arrival in Connecticut, or after arrival, will be exempt from quarantine. These tests should be sent to the commissioner of the Department of Public Health and can be either a PCR test or a rapid result test.

Essential workers traveling for work-related reasons will also be exempt from the 10-day self-quarantine.

Finally, anyone who has tested positive for the virus within 90 days of arrival in Connecticut, who has recovered clinically, or has not exhibited symptoms is exempt. These tests should be sent to the Department of Public Health, said the governor.

“Given the current high rates of COVID-19 in the United States and internationally, Connecticut continues to strongly discourage all non-essential interstate travel at this time, as the risks are too severe,” said Lamont.

“Visitors to Connecticut and residents returning from anywhere beyond the immediate region, including New Jersey, New York and Rhode Island, should be quarantined for a period of 10 days to reduce the risk of further spread of this virus. “he continued.
