New Corona warning app update | federal government

An official positive rapid or PCR test was previously required for a warning via the Corona-Warn-App. With the current update, users can now trigger a warning through the app itself if the test result is positive. This applies both to positive results from PCR tests officially ordered in test centers and rapid antigen tests that were not transmitted to the app, as well as to positive results from so-called point-of-care PCR tests (PCR rapid tests) and from self-tests.

Users of the Corona-Warn-App can trigger a maximum of one warning within three months. This is intended to limit possible misuse of the new function.

Switch off the TAN hotline

A call to the verification hotline to issue teleTANs after a positive test result that was not sent to the CWA is no longer necessary. Therefore, the verification hotline will be discontinued on January 31, 2023.

The switch to the TAN-free warning procedure does not change anything for the core app functions of risk determination and risk warning. The app continues to work as usual.
