China, the place where the pandemic first ravaged, has long had low infection rates and life has long been about normal.
But now the delta variant is spreading in the country, and over 20 cities have introduced strict measures to overcome the highest infection rates since January, writes The Guardian. On Monday, 55 new cases of infection were registered in the country, the newspaper writes.
The cases of infection have put millions of Chinese in lockcdown again.

The capital Beijing has, among other things, closed all air, train and air connections to the areas that are now affected by delta infection, and has closed the city to tourists in the middle of the tourist season. Only “necessary travelers” are now allowed to enter the city of millions.
