According to “Bild”, Bayern will extend the contract with the 32-year-old Müller, which expires in 2023, by another two years. The TV broadcaster Sky also gave the same contract period to captain Manuel Neuer, who would also be free of charge in summer 2023.
“In fact, there is nothing to announce, but we are in good talks, in good exchanges. Both sides want and I believe that at the end of the day a good solution will be found,” said Müller after the 3-0 win said at Arminia Bielefeld. Müller didn’t want to say anything about “how, when, where”.
Müller has been playing for Germany’s record champions for more than two decades, and he made his Bundesliga debut in 2008. The 2014 world champion is one of the top earners in the squad. CEO Oliver Kahn previously said in the Sport1 “double pass” that he was “very, very confident that we can say something about it in the relatively short term”.
As with Müller and Neuer, the contracts of world footballers Robert Lewandowski (33) and Serge Gnabry (26) will expire on June 30, 2023.
The club is “in very, very good contact” with goalkeeper Neuer (36), Kahn reported. The national team captain has been playing for the record German soccer champions since the summer of 2011.
