Wimmis | 27. September 2024
Pupils from the communities of Reutigen and Zwieselberg have been attending the high school in Wimmis for a long time. After the two communities merged at the beginning of this year, a new contract for school cooperation has now been approved. The local council also discussed various projects and their loans and follow-up loans.

At its meeting on September 19th, the Wimmis municipal council decided on some of the municipality’s current issues, as it wrote in a communiqué on Thursday. In it, the community informs about a new cooperation agreement, which became necessary because the communities of Reutigen and Zwieselberg merged at the beginning of this year. For many decades, students from both communities have been going to school in the Wimmis high school center. At first only the secondary school students, since summer 2015 also the secondary school students. Co-determination for the Reutigen community is ensured with two representatives on the school commission. Therefore, the Commission now has a new composition.
Renewal of the outdated auditorium technology
The stage technology of the Aula Chrümig was also a current topic. The technical equipment in the Chrümig auditorium, which dates back to the 1960s, is to be renovated for 165,000 francs. The project includes the replacement of all stage technology as well as new LED hall lighting. If the community meeting approves the loan this December, the work will be carried out in summer 2025. It is at least doubtful whether the new facility will continue to serve for more than 60 years.
Expansion around the Chrümig multi-purpose building
The local council also dealt with an expansion project in the community. Wenger Fenster AG is planning an expansion at the Wimmis location and is dependent on additional space for goods handling and parking spaces. These are to be realized around the Chrümig multi-purpose building. Since the building and the land belong to the municipality, the project is to be financed by the municipality to the tune of 250,000 francs. A corresponding loan will be requested from the community meeting in December 2025. The counter-financing takes place via a long-term rental to Wenger Fenster AG.
Money for new water pipes
The community is renewing a service and a road at the same time. The water pipe in the rear part of Lochmattestrasse is scheduled to be replaced next year. For this purpose, a loan of 150,000 francs will be requested from the community assembly. A further 180,000 francs will be requested from the municipal assembly for the road renovation that is taking place at the same time. The project therefore costs a total of 330,000 francs.
More money needed for construction work
Finally, the local council discussed a required additional loan. In connection with the new construction of the Walo AG factory site, the water pipe in Alte Staatsstrasse was replaced. The local council has approved a commitment loan of 60,000 francs for this purpose. The construction work turned out to be more difficult than expected, which is why an additional loan of almost 20,000 francs was necessary, concludes the statement from the municipality of Wimmis.
