New confirmed cases ‘shoot again’ in Guimarães and Famalicão

The districts of Braga and Viana do Castelo have 379 new covid-19 infections confirmed since last Monday, according to data released today by the Directorate-General for Health (DGS).

Minho thus totals 5,413 confirmed cases since the beginning of the pandemic.

The district of Braga registers a further 316 new cases. According to the DGS report, the district has an accumulated of 4,691 confirmed cases.

The municipality of Guimarães surpasses the barrier of a thousand cases and is again the one with the greatest increase in new cases: there are more than 98 in a week, totaling 1,031.

Famalicão is the second municipality of Minho with the most new cases: 70, which makes a total of 699.

Braga has 50 more cases (total 1464), Barcelos more 30 (387) and Vila Verde more 18 (354).

In addition, almost all municipalities in the district of Braga recorded increases: Vizela now has a total of 188 (+9), Fafe 153 (+4), Amares 106 (+6), Póvoa de Lanhoso 112 (+19), Esposende 69 (+3), Celorico de Basto 32 (+1) and Terras de Bouro 31 (+8).

Vieira do Minho with 38 cases and Cabeceiras de Basto with 27 maintain last week’s figures.

In the district of Viana do Castelo, according to the report, there are 63 new cases, adding to Alto Minho now an accumulation of 722 infections since the beginning of the pandemic.

The biggest increase was registered in Valença with 17 new cases (33 in total), followed soon by Viana do Castelo with another 16 (total 274).

Monção now has 124 cases (+2), Arcos de Valdevez 79 (+3), Melgaço 68 (+1), Ponte de Lima 57 (+10), Caminha 37 (+4), Ponte da Barca 24 (+6) , Cerveira 17 (+3) and Paredes de Coura 9 (+1).

Portugal today registers four more deaths and 613 new cases of infection by covid-19, compared to Sunday, according to the daily epidemiological bulletin of DGS.

According to the bulletin, since the beginning of the pandemic until today, there have been 64,596 confirmed cases of infection and 1,871 deaths.

There are still 44,185 recovered, 116 more than yesterday.
