new colorectal cancer screening campaign in Franche-Comté

Colorectal cancer: nearly 2,000 cases per year in Bourgogne Franche-Comté

43,350 new cases of colorectal cancer were identified in France each year between 2007 and 2016 (for 17,120 fatalities), including 1,996 in Bourgogne Franche-Comté (56% in men, 44% in women) which resulted in 841 deaths.

Detected early, colorectal cancer is cured 9 out of 10 times. However, only 30.4% of Burgundian Francs-Comtois carry out their screening test, the national average being 30.5%.

Testing kits have changed this year. They are easier to use, their instructions for use have been revised. Be careful, however, before doing the test, you should check that you have one of the new kits, distributed from July 2020. Because since February 7, the old kits are no longer read by the laboratories. Your attending physician can issue you with a new one if necessary.
