The municipality of The Hague needs at least six parties for a new coalition. This is what explorer Arie Slob writes in his final report. He advises to first look at a college that includes Hart voor Den Haag, the party of Richard de Mos.
Slob was flown in early last month to investigate the possibilities for a new coalition in the Hofstad. This was necessary after the previous coalition fell in June.
The VVD left the council at the time, after a conflict about a possible return of Hart for The Hague to the council. This after party celebrities Richard de Mos and Rachid Guernaoui were acquitted of corruption. VVD, CDA and D66 were willing to talk to De Mos, but PvdA and GroenLinks were strongly against it.
Explorer Slob now advises in his final report to first look at a possible college with Heart for The Hague, VVD, Party for the Animals, DENK, SP and ChristenUnie/SGP.
If that fails, there is an alternative with nine parties: D66, GroenLinks, PvdA, CDA, Party for the Animals, DENK, SP, ChristenUnie/SGP and the Hague City Party. According to Slob, it is not feasible to form a board with the two largest parties in the city, Hart voor Den Haag and D66.
If one of these coalitions succeeds, The Hague will have a new council for the fourth time in five years.
