New coaches and managers in TTT staff, Ivars Ikstens continues cooperation Press release

There have been several changes in the staff of the basketball club “TTT Rīga”. The team is joined by manager Vivita Morusa, physiotherapist Sintija Priede and coach Andris Steļmahs. Physical fitness coach Ivars Ikstens will work in the club for the second season.

Physiotherapist Sintija Priede graduated from the University of Latvia in 2014, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in sports pedagogy. This was followed by four and a half years of extramural studies at the Latvian Academy of Sports Pedagogy, in-depth study of physiotherapy. She has been an assistant to Ivars Ikstens, helping the national team prepare for the World Cup – she has worked with Aija Klakock, Ieva Pulvera, Kitty Laks and Ilze Jākobsons.

Since 2011, Priede has worked in the men’s basketball team of the University of Latvia – first as an intern, later as an assistant and chief physiotherapist. Since 2017 he has been working at the medical center “ProMed sports medicine”. After graduating from the University of Latvia, she has worked in Latvian youth teams every summer. For five years she has been a physical fitness and athletics coach at the “Viktor Lāča Sports School”.

Manager Vivita Morusa graduated from TTP basketball school. She has a bachelor’s degree in public management – a public relations manager qualification with a specialization “Event Organizer”. Creator and creator of the brand “WIVI”.

Morusa is the National Guard of the 3rd Infantry Battalion of the Mechanized Infantry Brigade of the Land Forces and a national basketball player of the National Armed Forces. The biggest achievement – in 2019, he won second place in the NATO Command Europe (SHAPE) basketball tournament and earned the MVP award.

Coach Andris Steļmahs performs the duties of the assistant head coach Mārtiņš Gulbis. Last season, both worked in the basketball club “Jūrmala”. Steļmahs combined work in the men’s team with work at Jūrmala Sports School. The Jurmala girls team he trained returned to the Latvian women’s basketball league after a 24-year break.

Since October 2009, Steļmahs has been working at the Jūrmala Sports School, raising girls born in 2001-2004. At the age of 19, Nikola Ozola reached the limit of 100 games in the youth national team and together with Alex Purmal he played in the U19 World Cup in Thailand. Two-year-old Ieva Korzāne also regularly receives invitations to youth teams. Steļmahs was an assistant to Diāna Kuzina and Ingūnas Markūne in the U14 national team, while in 2020 she became the head coach of the Latvian U15 girls’ national team.

Physical fitness coach Ivars Ikstens has been working at TTT since 2019. Latvian champion (2020), Latvian, Estonian and Lithuanian league winner (2020). Helped TTT players return to the sport after injuries. Contributed to the preparation of Kitty Lax for the first season of her professional career, encouraging a full recovery to play successfully in the FIBA ​​Euroleague, national team and WNBA.

Everyone studied at Madona Sports School, playing basketball with coach Agnis Beķers. In the twelfth grade, he decided to study medicine at Riga Stradins University. He worked at the Children’s Hospital for three years. Since 2013, he has worked in the basketball system of the University of Latvia. The first collaboration with coach Mārtiņš Gulbis – a joint work in the Latvian U16 boys team. Starting from 2018, she has been working for the Latvian women’s national team – helped the team prepare for its debut at the World Cup in Tenerife.

TTT Riga: nineteen-time Latvian champions (1992-1993, 1995, 2001-2005, 2007, 2008, 2010-2011, 2014-2020), Latvian-Estonian-Lithuanian league champions (2019, 2020), LAT-EST league champions (2014 -2018), European League champions (2016, 2019), European Cup “Top 16” (2016-2018) and Euroleague “Top 8” (2019).
