New clinic: “We must demystify psychiatry”

Construction

The paint is still fresh and the rooms are empty. But the new psychiatric clinic built on rue des Pyramides in Thionville, on the former influence of the Paul-Valéry college, should open in October. “We are awaiting the latest validations from the Regional Health Agency”, summarizes Geoffrey Roubehie, director of operations France for Clinéa psy, present this week in the walls. The structure is divided into several units.

The care offer

A day hospital has an independent entrance, consultation offices, activity rooms, a place of conviviality.

On the same level, the main reception of the clinic leads to more traditional hospital units. The ground floor gives access to two services reserved for young patients: fourteen places are dedicated to 12-15 year olds, twenty to 16-25 year olds. Depressive states, behavioral or eating disorders, suicidal risks will be taken care of. Here again, living spaces (playground, outdoor terrace) have been designed.

Upstairs, the mental health clinic has thirty-seven beds distributed in the adult living unit, with no age limit: patients referred by their doctors, following a desperate act, a delusional episode, a withdrawal. . On the other side of the corridor, a unit of seventeen places will welcome people hospitalized under duress, referred by emergencies.

The staff

The psych clinic begins with a small team of seventeen people, a psychiatrist, a child psychiatrist, a nursing group, reception, catering and administrative staff. Recruitment continues. “We are going to step up,” explains the management team. Ultimately, around 100 people, including around 10 doctors, will work on the site. And the paramedic will be important. The management cites the interventions of an art therapist or a sports educator in the future workforce.

The philosophy

The spirit of the project can be read from the entrance. The decor and the atmosphere are important. Benches, wooden furniture, indirect lights adorn the reception rooms. “The environment plays on the psychological feelings of patients”, notes Geoffrey Roubehie, director of operations for France. “We must demystify psychiatry from its asylum aspect,” he continues. A restaurant with independent kitchen, a cafeteria notably recreate common places of life and links.

Clinéa opens up. “The infant and juvenile center of the clinic will be headed by a specialized educator. Among other examples.

A group and an expertise

The Orpea group, specializing in physical and psychological dependence, has grown internationally. In France, it has 354 establishments: retirement homes (nursing homes and serviced residences) but also aftercare and rehabilitation structures as well as psychiatric clinics under the Clinéa brand. “We have real experience and expertise in infancy and youth”, underlines the director of operations Clinéa psy, Geoffrey Roubehie. The network includes 55 psych clinics, some of which are under construction. Thionville is the second establishment on the Grand Est. Projects will see the light of day in Toul and Schiltigheim.
