An excellence of the circular economy a stone’s throw from the exit of the northern ring road of Turin, at the gates of Venaria Reale. It is there that the new headquarters of the Vergero Group is located, a company that has been operating in the sector of environmental services for industry and agriculture for more than thirty years, specializing in the collection, management, valorisation, recycling and disposal of industrial waste and agricultural with over 200 thousand tons managed per year.
With a surface area of 45 thousand square meters and a treatment capacity of 45 thousand tonnes of waste per year, the plant represents a point of reference. A place where paper, cardboard, plastic and wood find a new life thanks to cutting-edge technologies and sophisticated selection processes. The inauguration of the new site (with a video message from the Minister of the Environment Gilberto Pichetto Fratin) marked the start of the recycling of non-hazardous waste coming from approximately 60% of the production activities in the Turin hinterland.
«The plant is designed to be constantly evolving and able to respond to market needs and the emerging opportunities of the recovery chain», explained Marco and Virginia Vergero, owners of the company of the same name. «We will continue to share every achievement in terms of sustainability with the territory, with the openness and transparency that distinguish our group. For this reason we will also launch a series of interventions involving the community to share the added value of our activity and our commitment”.
Built with an investment of over 15 million euros (3 million for the land, 9 for the buildings and ancillary systems and more than 3 million for the equipment and the production line), the site will be able to manage 45 thousand tons of waste all year with a total workforce of over 50 people. «It is also thanks to important entrepreneurial realities such as the Vergero Group that the industrial district, among the most crucial areas in the economic chessboard of Venaria Reale, has changed its appearance», underlined the centre-right mayor of the Turin municipality, Fabio Giulivi. «A change of vision and thought that will once again give centrality to the theme of increasing employment and that of innovation and environmental sustainability, given that the Vergero Group has been a green economy company for thirty years».
Virginia Vergero recalls, «in 1987 my father started this adventure with a single truck and a very small plant in the Turin area. Today leading a company with eleven plants in Italy and almost 200 collaborators is a great pride. This new factory represents a milestone in our journey. The future that awaits us is full of opportunities.”
