JPMorgan Chase is a very well known financial institution in the United States of America. The first lounges have been officially confirmed and holders of a Priority Pass are expected to have access to the lounges, like The Points Guy reported.
First lounges in the USA and Asia
Similar to American Express already with the Centurion Lounges JPMorgan Chase will soon be operating its own lounges at airports in the US and around the world. As the US bank has now announced, it will initially open three lounges in the USA and Asia. The first lounges with the name Sapphire Lounge by The Club will open at New York LaGuardia, Boston Logan and Hong Kong airports. The speculation was fueled a few months ago with renovation work at Boston Airport. As has now been confirmed, the first lounge is to open there – already in the coming year 2022. The lounge is to be over 1,000 square meters and located between Terminals B and C.
As the name suggests, Chase Sapphire credit card holders will have access to the new lounges to be operated by Airport Dimensions. This operator is known for lounges with the name “Club Aspire” or “The Club”. Airport Dimensions has signed a twelve-year lease agreement with Chase for a $ 20.4 million investment. The nickname “The Club” will keep the new lounges, to which holders of a Priority Pass should also have access. As Massport, the Boston port authority, announced back then, day passes are also to be sold.
In the past few weeks we have already reported many new partnerships and general innovations in the Priority Pass network. With a total of 150 new lounges, which are newly planned for this year in the network, Priority Pass is taking the next step and should receive a prominent addition with the Chase lounges. How long access with Priority Pass could actually be granted is currently questionable. Overcrowded lounges were a major problem in the US before the corona pandemic. For this reason, American Express has already massively restricted the access restrictions to the popular Centurion Lounges for holders of the American Amex Platinum credit cards.

It’s official now. American Express is facing competition in the market for airport lounges operated by credit institutions and financial service providers. The US bank JPMorgan Chase will open the first three lounges in the US and Asia, as it has now officially announced. In addition to holders of the Chase Sapphire credit card, members of the Priority Pass should also have access to the lounges. Ironically, American Express Platinum credit card holders also receive the Priority Pass.
