Six Vietnamese tourists died in Bangkok continues with an investigation. The witness to the murder, the tour guide, was arrested.
Narrated by Dai VN Express on Saturday (17/8/2024), 35-year-old Phan Ngoc Vu was a tour guide of a group of Vietnamese tourists who died at the Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel in Bangkok on July 17. Vu is a witness in the investigation into the death of six tourists.
Vu had been the group’s guide during their time in Thailand. The police are trying to establish the chain of events that led to the death.

Thailand’s Department of Tourism, in coordination with the country’s tourism police, arrested Vu on charges of operating without an official permit.
After investigating Vu, the police became suspicious and decided to closely monitor his activities. according to Bangkok Postthey saw him several times taking Vietnamese tourists to different tourist spots in Thailand.
Vu was charged with running a tourism business and working as a tour guide without the necessary permits and work permits. He was then taken to Phaya Thai police station for legal proceedings.
So far, the evidence points to cyanide poisoning in cups of tea. Authorities alleged that a Vietnamese-American woman named Sherine Chong had laced tea leaves with a poisonous substance before the group, including herself, brewed and consumed the poisoned tea.
The other victims were American citizen Dang Hung Van, 55, and Vietnamese citizen Nguyen Thi Phuong Lan, 47; Pham Hong Thanh, 49 years old; Tran Dinh Phu, 37 years old; and Nguyen Thi Phuong, 46 years old.
Police believe the group had a dispute over debt related to an investment, and are still investigating how Chong obtained the cyanide and whether he had any accomplices.
General Noppasin Poolsawat, deputy chief of the Bangkok police, told reporters that the dispute was related to a hospital construction project in Japan.
