Sharjah, October 14 / WAM / The Sharjah Self-Defense Sports Club, in cooperation with the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), opened yesterday evening a new center in Shagrafa Park in the Emirate of Sharjah to practice Taekwondo for girls, with the aim of expanding its activities and spreading the culture of practicing self-defense sports in various regions of the emirate and within His plan aims to discover female national talents, develop their abilities, and include them in tournaments in preparation for their inclusion in the national teams.
The opening of the new center was attended by Engineer Hanadi Al Kabouri, Executive Director of the Club, and Mai Al Ameri, Deputy Director of Sharjah Women’s Sports Club, along with an elite group of sports leaders.
His Excellency Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al Owais, Chairman of the Club’s Board of Directors, valued the joint cooperation with the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority “Shurooq” in securing modern infrastructure and the center’s cultural means for practicing sports. He said: We look forward to the new center having the best international standards for practicing sports in accordance with the high values recommended by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, which contributes to the trend towards practicing sports as an important way of life and for the club to implement its strategic plans, the most important of which is nurturing national talent. By developing the level of new players by taking advantage of the club’s distinguished training capabilities to become players capable of representing the Emirates in the most prominent international tournaments and forums.
He stressed that the opening of the new center will contribute to achieving this, noting that all requirements related to occupational health and safety have been taken into account, as the new center will be strengthened with the best training, community, media and cultural methods that aim to enhance the confidence of female players to achieve their ambitions.
In turn, engineer Hanadi Khalifa Al-Kabouri confirmed that the new center is one of the basic goals that the club’s management worked to implement due to its importance due to the center’s proximity to residential areas and the desire to discover talented female Taekwondo players to strengthen the club’s teams and invest in joint cooperation with “Shurooq” and the conviction and certainty that Emirati girls are capable. And qualifications to advance themselves athletically.
Al-Kabouri noted that choosing ages (7-15 years) to join the club aims to prepare the players technically, physically and mentally early, enabling them to participate widely in sports activities.
