New celebration of mariachi at Teatro Digital

In November 2019, the Mariachi Festival was born in Colombia, with the aim of celebrating the tradition that the popular Mexican musical genre has had in the country. One of the attractions of the meeting was the Mariachi Gala, whose objective was to bring together the most important groups in the country dedicated to this music on a stage.

The setting for the gala was the Julio Mario Santo Domingo Theater. Last year, in September, the presentation was adapted to the restrictions generated by the coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19) and was recorded to be broadcast through the Digital Theater platform.

From Thursday, February 4, the Mariachi Gala returns to this platform, from Bancolombia and the Julio Mario Santo Domingo Theater, a stage of the Mayor’s Office of Bogotá through the District Institute of the Arts. Enter here to Digital Theater.

The concert features Ricardo Torres and his Mariachi and Mariachi Evolución, led by Hugo Fernando Alfonso Guzmán, who will perform renowned songs of the genre and some of their own compositions.

For its part, the Mariachi Evolución was born in 2010, under the leadership of Guzmán. In 2012, Luisa Fernanda Alfonso joined the group, who is the female and main voice of the group.

The mariachi has stood out for accompanying international artists such as Galy Galeano, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Ana Gabriel, Yolanda del Río, Luis Silva and Ricardo de Castro, among others.
