Hong Kong and American actor Bruce Lee died in 1973 of cerebral edema. He was 32 years old. All this time, it was believed that an allergic reaction to a headache pill, which the actor took a few hours before his death, led to edema. But now experts have established a new cause of death.
“We hypothesize that the inability of the kidneys to excrete excess water killed Bruce Lee. Our hypothesis is that he died of a specific form of kidney dysfunction. This could lead to brain edema and death, which occurs within a few hours if excessive water intake is not accompanied by excretion of water in urine and this coincides with the chronology of events of Lee’s death,” note the authors of the article.
The actor used to drink a lot of liquids. The actor’s widow, Linda, recalled that before her death, her husband was on a liquid diet consisting of apple and carrot juices, reports the site.
Bruce Lee is an American and Hong Kong actor and director. Born November 27, 1940 in San Francisco.
He rose to fame for his lead roles in the action films ‘Fist of Fury’ and ‘Way of the Dragon’.
He died in Hong Kong during filming on July 20, 1973.
