A new case of meningitis, this time in Kalamataat the high school student hospital.
The student was taken to hospital for treatment, with his condition not causing concern, according to doctors.
In particular, the doctors appear reassuring, while attributing the occurrence of meningitis to the climatic conditions unusual for the season.
The management of the school, the director of Secondary Education, the Municipality of Kalamata, the Health Center of Kalamata and the health officer of the Peloponnese Region were informed about the case.
As reported by eleftheriaonline.gr, the existence of the case of meningitis was not made public so that there would be no panic due to repeated cases.
According to the information, there was surveillance of the student’s contacts as well as of the school and no other incident occurred.
The new case of meningitis is added to the eight cases in Patras and the other five in Larissa.
Doctors, for their part, appear reassuring, stating that there is no risk of an epidemic.
